(CONNECTICUT) – Often in school, at least in the north-east, we ponder the pilgrim. Those who sailed an ocean blue and dark, who landed on Plymouth Rock. Invariably, as we get older, our relationship with the pilgrims changes. We find some of us are not as proud to pledge allegiance everyday, we see some things that only we can see. But more often than not, we forget that e pluribus unum. Or, out of many, one.
Ours is a nation of one federal government, and 50 disagreeable cousin governments, all of whom are shouting at each other far too loudly. Out of the many, one.
But too often, we get concerned with the many, the state governments, the freedom from government, the freedom to do things. Ours is a nation of freedoms. Freedoms which many of our current, one, government is suppressing. This government, Mr. Trump's government is one of hatred and revenge. Revenge on those who wronged him. Hatred for those he will never understand. I know a lot of folks like Mr. Trump, I know few of them whom I respect.
But our nation is one. One, out of the many. One, made from the many, one of the people. One against the billionaires. One, out of the many. E pluribus, unum. I believe as many of my ideological compatriots will be, that Mr. Trump, and his ideological compatriots, want one nation. Under him.
