Israel Attacks Iran, Wants America to Join

(NEW YORK, NY) – Over the past five days the state of Israel has launched several unprovoked attacks upon the nation of Iran, using drone attacks to strike vital military and civilian targets within Iran, assassinating top military officials within Iran, striking nuclear facilities with Iran, and attacking top civilian targets within the the capital of Iran, Tehran, with an apparatus of drones within the borders of Iran that Israel had been able to establish in an indefinite amount of time. Iran responded in kind the day after, launching hundreds (if not, thousands) of bombs mostly targeted towards Israel’s capital city of Tel Aviv, a sizable number of which were able to penetrate Israel’s Iron Dome defence system (which Mr. Trump notably has wanted to copy and implement within the United States.) Numerous Human Rights and International Law groups have called Israel’s initial unprovoked strike a violation of international law and an illegal strike.

In recent days, after nearly a week of Israel and Iran trading strikes and bombs, the Trump administration has begun souring on resolving this conflict through diplomatic means and has begun to increasingly remain neutral on the option of America directly intervening in the conflict between Israel and Iran, suggesting that American troops and American lives may be at risk in once again another conflict within the Middle East.

Trump’s administration has called for Iran’s complete and “unconditional surrender” to Israel, which the Ayatollah has resoundingly rejected as an option. Trump has also stated that “nobody knows” what his administration will do in regards to the conflict, in reference to whether the nation will join in Israel’s illegal war against Iran. This war may bring flashbacks of 2003 to many Americans, when America invaded Iraq due to claims that the Saddam Hussein possessed Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs), similarly, Israel has justified their strikes on Iran with the justification that Iran has the capability to build and develop a nuclear weapon within a matter of months. Americans on social media have joked that this was evidence of y2k nostalgia “going too far”.

The similarities between Iraq and Iran do not stop at their similar names and justifications, both wars are illegal under the covenants of International Law and similarly both are resoundingly unpopular. In a Liberal Democracy, a policy with 16% support and 60% opposition would not be seriously considered in any context of power, that being said, we now definitively live (at the very least) in an illiberal democracy, where freedom of press, assembly, and speech are definitively under threat by the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or otherwise known as America’s new secret police.

Trump’s war with Iran would be unpopular, illegal, and against what he campaigned on in the 2024 election. Mr. Trump claimed that he would be a President that encouraged the proliferation of peace, a post-war president. Sadly, Mr. Trump is incapable of doing anything that is positive for the nation or indeed not lying with a 30 second span of time (he gets chills and cold sweats if he doesn’t, its a hard withdrawal). It is very possible that America enters another war in the Middle East, a mere 4 years after we withdrew from our last forever war. Americans do not want it, International Law will not permit it, and Trump said he would be against it; but alas, we find ourselves once again on the precipice of a dubiously justified illegal war that would result in the total destruction of American credibility on the international stage (or at least- the destruction of whatever little credibility we have left), the only hope is that Mr. Trump’s policies on tariffs and war are the same, namely, that Trump Always Chickens Out (TACO).

The Radical Times is against any military action by the Trump Administration in Iran, and will condemn it if or when it comes.
