Philosophy, and loving yourself is good, actually: A critique of Kant.

(NEW YORK, USA) – Let me start this essay by saying one thing. Hope is good. Hope is the basis of any ideology, whether you are a fascist or an anarcho-communist, hope is good. Hope will de-radicalize you. If you are too old to understand that again, I'm talking to you, Ezra Klein. Please, for the love of God and all that is holy, listen to a young person. And let me say one thing: by the definition of the DSM-5, you are old. Culture is changing whether you want it to or not.

Without reason, we find ourselves lost in the nothingness of trauma and existential dread. Generation Z, or for the purpose of this article- Zoomers- as digital natives have been filling themselves with permanent nostalgia ever since the ‘20s COVID Era imploded on its own contradictions. Liberalism, the individual critique of society, or as Ms. Thatcher once stated “There [are] no such thing[s] as society”; is an embrace of the true identity, which is the collective culture of what surrounds you.

You cannot exist without your city, your friends, your lovers- and your haters. We exist in imperfect existence; but you can change that. Ethics and the pursuit of the reasonable, exist.

Without discussion, or some level of self-actualization you may often find that there is not such a thing as your own identity. You will be lost. You will be found within the contradictions of society. However, that doesn’t mean hope isn’t there. You can memetics your way out of depression. In fact, I know this to be true- because it is therapy.

Gen-Z as a reaction to Millennial Honesty

Power Structures exist because of Capital, yes. But that does not mean that capital will destroy us. Aesthetics matter because humanity does. And- if you are normal, if you are not self-centered and do not engross yourself in the affairs of the other, you may find that the normal is not yourself. And that’s fine.

Zoomers are doomed because they are a product of the Coronavirus, and those younger than us may have a similar way of viewing the world. But if you feel better now, Mr. Zohran Mamdani made it better.

Just to be clear, to emphasize it about as much as it could be made, you should be a critic of your own thought. As a filter, stop yourself from being kind to others but downright disgusting to yourself. Without that pure reason you will find that the world is a place much meaner, worse, and stupid then it is. I don't think everyone should have the same result of that process- nor do I think people are in general. But I think that if you think that, you're self-serving. Well-meaning, but self-serving. Ethics are not a practice of absolute truth.

To quote Plato, hopefully, without sounding like someone who lives in Bushwick- "The Olympic victor, I said, ... is ... happy ... a part only of the blessedness which is secured to our citizens." (The Republic, 200, de Botton.) And if you have never read something that philosophical, it's okay. You can be okay without being wrong.

However, you can be wrong. And there is such a thing as failure in your morals. If you don't have those, you have in some sense done a disservice to yourself.

And for those who are truly gone, I just want you to know that this too shall pass. I have wanted to end my life before; everyone has been done an injustice in some sense. To paraphrase Conclave (2024), "Maybe, I was elected because I exist between the two [gender] absolutes of life". As a side note, you should watch that movie.

If that doesn't work, I can't do anything for you. Just know that everyone has been there, to some extent.

Conclusion | Class Consciousness for the disengaged.

You cannot critique life without realizing that you, yes you, are the subject of this essay. But, to bring the focus narrowly back on the self of myself, the result should be something that makes you feel good. Philosophy can’t be made just to critique your own thoughts either, it should be made to critique the thoughts of others, society, and then yourself.

The study of morality is not an easy practice or subject, you can look at the world, see it wrong, and still be wrong by the will of the majority. You cannot let yourself be subject to the structure that the world imposes upon you, because resistance exists within yourself.

Please, just don’t blow up my bodega. Or, for that matter, rank Cuomo. Please don't rank Cuomo. I know he's an independent, just don't do it.
